Niwot boys finish strong at state tennis tournament
The Niwot Cougars found themselves in good position Saturday morning as three of their singles players vied for top honors in the 2011 Class 4A State Tennis Championship tournament in Pueblo. No. 3 single player Spencer Lang and no. 2 single Michael Ogez took first place, while no. 1 single Harrison Lang lost a hard battle to Kent Denver’s David Mitchell. The Cougars did have enough points to secure the second place team title.
Longmont suffers bitter loss to Broomfield
The Longmont Trojans came close yet again, but were edged by the Broomfield Eagles 48-38 in overtime during the Class 4A state championship game at Coors Events Center on Friday, March 11, 2011. It was the second year in a row the Trojans lost the championship to the Eagles.
