Poor thing. I don’t care for traffic in Longmont either. Some non wildlife poeple thought it was a camel?!??! Before or after lightning storm??? Must have just seeing missed it…What a special thing to see.

Hi Karen,
Thanks a bunch for sending these great pictures. What a nice hike! Seeing those “older ladies in this series makes me think ……I believe I could hike a bit if I had those walking sticks!!!!! I will look into that very soon! Skinny(the ever tightest man in the world) thought he could make some of those sticks with worn-out golf clubs!!!! The pictures were so good and colorful! Really enjoyed.

I’m sorry for whoever wrote this story but the information that you received is wrong. People that have commented do not know the whole story and should know these comments have hurt their family and friends who know the truth. These Men do not do any of the things that have been stated by some people. They are young college students that work hard and help out their community. These young men are liked and loved by everyone they know. These men don’t drag race and never have. Their Family and friends would like you to Please say a prayer for these young men for a fast and speedy recovery and the conviction of the real driver that is at fault for this accident. Thanks to everyone that was their that night that helped to save their lives.

Well mister silverado man ….. Do you know that real facts about what happend or are you guessing? There
might be alot of WHAT IF’S about that whole thing as well. I think that Times Call should have asked more questions about this first. Lewis Geyer should have waited to tell real facts first before he said false factsthat he said.
I just hope that the young adults are fine and that they will pull through. As for the other car and driver will there be justice served.? God Speed to the family’s in the denver hospital.

I was at the crash site, I pulled over. I see all of this praise going out to LEU and LFD, how about the 2 Paramedics from American Medical Response? They pulled over right behind me, and started treating the victims right away. They are the real heros in my book. I stood there for quite some time and watched the scene. They were the first ones there and the last ones gone. Since you men have been ignored I thank you myself.

Those 2 young men are alive only because of the actions performed by the Longmont Fire Department – Longmont Police Department – Longmont Emergency Unit – and Air Life and the support of the Longmont United Hospital staff. Inexperience and stupidity caused this crash which could have killed them outright. If not for crashing head-on into the tree the car would have sailed into the living room of the house killing the occupants. And the other car in the race kept on going not stopping to check on their buddies or even to make a call to the Longmont Police.

This is the type of accident that everybody guffaws and loudly states that it could never happen to them. Well it did. They are too good of a driver. They are not and never were. They are experienced at this sort of thing and have raced all over town. Yes, and how many more people will be next to dead because of the idiocy of youth and testosterone?

If you want to prove that you have the fastest car in its class – take it to the racetrack and race against real competition. Learn how to responsibly drive and get sanctioned and a limited racing license or status. Make it even up on both vehicles from a standing start and take off from the lights of the track christmas tree. Prove that you are enough of an adult and a man to do things the right way.

What if your parents or loved ones were sitting at home enjoying a tv program and a car comes through the walls and kills them? How would you feel about street racing then? Not far from this crash another car full of kids raced downhill and they also hit a tree – but it killed all of them. Mostly by burning to death from the crash and being pinned in the car and could not get out. Whole families were desytroyed because of a fool behind the wheel. 2 more just about made that club Sunday night. Maybe now you kids will understand why speed contests are so deadly and if caught you lose your license instead of your life.

Thanks to Mr. Geyer, for taking this picture for me, as we were talking about Olde Columbine. There are so many great teachers there. Deniece replaced Alan this year, (had some big shoes too fill there) yet, She has done many great things. Mrs. Cook has taking this school, to the next level. There is a program That is connected with the school, That is for Students. That get behind, To work @ an “open~door” type learning. Has several teachers, That will assist your teenager/student. To get caught up with the credits. In a short amount of time, The work is hard. You, as a student, have to be disciplined. This is the reason why Beth got her Diploma. With missing almost a full year. So, my hat’s go off to all, That has helped her. Through her healing, growing up. I would be taking a whole page, thanking all, at the school. For it is the best team, learning environment, If you student had a blunder, needs to get caught up on some serious credit. You should call this school. in the fall, they are amazing..

I wonder who’s going to be Tiger’s next coach? Do you think he’s going to pick a top swing coach or possibly a less famous one? It will be interesting to see how this will wind up. But you would figure at this point in his professional career, does he still really need an instructor? Do you think Chuck Cook would be interested in being his instructor?

Thanks Joan for pointing this out. What the reporter left out, was that after I said that I “discovered” the cemetery, while walking one winter day in 1987, I immediately started asking my neighbors about it. I particularly mentioned Mary Mead Jensen, who was the one who told me about the significance of this pioneer cemetery to our Highlandlake/Mead community. For several years after that, she and I would drive our mowers over there, and spend hours mowing the weeds down. Anyway,there is no doubt that just about everyone in the area knew about it, not to mention generations of high school boys who thrilled their girlfriends with fake ghost stories based on urban rumors (and in the process did untold vandalism and damage to irreplaceable markers).

So to clarify the story for the Mead/Jensen family, some of whom apparently feel that I misrepresented my part in all of this, my discovery, was for myself. While I was not the first person to discover the cemetery, what I did do was help reclaim the cemetery from years of neglect and the weedy, tangled mess that it had been allowed to fall into.

I enjoyed the story very much and am interested in the outcome of the study of graves they are doing at Highlandlake cemetery. Pauli Smith has done a great job in getting this done. But an inaccuracy in the story is that Pauli discovered the cemetery 23 years ago. As a member of the Mead family the cemetery has been there for over 100 years and through those years the community and family members have maintained this cemetery, it has never been lost or let go of.
